In the market Maglia Diego Laxalt , where there are number of mobile phones from HTC and LG which are co-orderly present for the consumers from their product series at affordable prices with lots of features to offer. Wildfire and the LG Optimus One P500 possess striking looks and it feels like an expensive product than it actually is. But a very steady alternative to the HTC and LG smartphones is the Motorola XT5, at the market price of approx. Rs. 13500.
In the matter of the fact that it is still running on a fairly outdated OS version known as the Android 2.1, with which it comes preinstalled with. Due to which it is at a disadvantage against the rivals. However, an impressive overall performance and a distinctly much better screen make the XT5 a better deal than the Wildfire. However, the LG Optimus One may just have snatched the march, thanks to the lower price and Android 2.2 running in its veins!
Motorola Maglia Samu Castillejo , ever since they re-build their image with the Milestone series of smartphone, they have been silently churning out one powerful handset after another. While the rivals have been making a lot of noise, Motorola has been surprisingly silent. But do we care, as long as they make very good phones which we can use?
The Motorola Quench XT5 is their newest addition to the series of the latest Android smartphone, targeted at the price range of Rs 10000 to Rs 15000. The competition in this segment is really tough. With HTC’s Wildfire, LG Optimus One and the Galaxy 3 from Samsung are sitting which are comfortably within this price range. Dell launched the XCD series of Android smartphones which retailed around the same price bracket as well. In some tough competition the XT5 will have to do a solid job.
The First Impression
Straight out of the box Maglia Andrea Bertolacci , the genre of the device is such that the XT5 looks classy and feels more expensive than it actually is. The 3.2-inch display is running along the border closely with black color stripes on all sides. There are three hardware buttons - call receive, call disconnect and the trackball. The four touch sensitive user interactive keys are - Options, Home, Search and Return, are placed just under the screen.
The sides of the have a silver strip running all around the phone. For connectivity, the USB port placed on the side panel also has a silver cover to it. The back panel has a nice rubbery feel to it Maglia Stefan Simic , with a pattern design. The silver Motorola logo will inevitably get scratched off very quickly. The 5MP camera at the back is not protected, and will get smudges too if you are not very careful.
The 3.5mm jack rightly placed on the top of the Mobile Phone, with the volume keys on the side panel. The volume rocker is well integrated on the silver strip, and I thought they are too close to each other. Press one, and you may accidentally press the other. Towards the bottom of the same side panel is the camera button. On the opposite side panel is the USB portcharging port, which has a cover for it as well.
The 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display is quite good Maglia Alessandro Plizzari , better than expected. Also, undoubtedly, it is far superior to the display compared to the HTC Wildfire. The Gorilla Glass display, also seen on the Nokia N8 and the Dell Streak, does a good job of keeping the screen attractive and up to an extent scratch resistant. The display is clearly visible from almost every angle. However, exposing the XT5 into bright sunlight and the results it gave was simply outstanding.
Performance
The XT5 is powered by the Qualcomm MSM7227 processor which runs at 600MHz and is paired with 256MB of RAM. The phone is fairly competitive in most scenarios Maglia Mattia Caldara , but feels a bit sluggish when it comes to opening numerous applications simultaneously. This is where the Smartphones with the processing power of 1GHz processor have an advantage, but then again, at this price point, all phones have the same specked processors.
However, most users may not face this issue since the phone works perfectly fine in most cases. The 100MB phone storage memory may be enough for only few apps, but till the time the phone gets the Froyo (Android 2.2) update Maglia Pepe Reina , moving application to the memory card will not be possible
The Moto Blur UI looks much better and slicker than the heavy when compared to the mighty HTC Sense UI. A lean skin will not affect the performance of the OS and the phone as much as a heavy User Interface skin.
The touchscreen response is precise and consistent. The pinch and zoom feature work perfectly fine, and that is the best indicator to a phone’s touchscreen ability. With the Gorilla Glass, the screen is actually very much scratch proof, but it still retains the fingerprint magnet capabilities.
However, we would have liked to see an optical track pad, instead of the trackball. If you are known to the issues common with the Blackberry phones woes Maglia Ivan Strinic , the trackball will inevitably gather dust and stop working as well as it should.
The call quality is excellent. Even in a noisy background, the in-ear speaker managed quite well, where no loss of any conversation was experienced at either end. The loudspeaker speaker on the XT5 is placed towards the bottom of the rear panel. And I am glad to say that the quality and loudness are well paired here.
The vivid display will be good for video viewing, if you use a phone for that. The touch gesture on the screen response is assured and works well. Only once did I have to give it a bit of a push to make the menu scroll down. Apart from that one off incident, the touch response was a splendid. Typing out SMSes will be a delight. There are three different types of keyboards, with their specific indentation values Maglia Tiemoue Bakayoko , they integrated keyboards are- CoolTex T+, QWERTY and the traditional 12 key layout.
