The Saskatchewan Roughriders will attempt to become the third consecutive Canadian Football League team to capture a championship on their home field when they face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at the 101st Grey Cup at Mosaic Stadium in Regina. TSNs pre-game coverage is underway live NOW, with kickoff at 6pm et/3pm pt. You can also follow TSNs digital platforms throughout the game with in-game highlights and TSN.cas GameTracker. To follow in the footsteps of the 99th Grey Cup Champion B.C. Lions and 100th Grey Cup Champion Toronto Argonauts, the Roughriders are going to have to beat a team that took an almost identical route to the title game as them in the Tiger-Cats. Both teams finished second in their respective division and after earning home semi-final victories, were forced to go on the road as underdogs to book their places in the final. In the West title game, the Roughriders knocked off the Calgary Stampeders 35-13, leading from the mid-point of the opening quarter right to the final whistle. After opening the regular season by winning eight of their first nine games, the Roughriders struggled through the second half of the campaign before getting things back on track heading into the playoffs. The Tiger-Cats, meanwhile, overturned a halftime deficit in the East Final to knock off the defending champion Argonauts and get to the Grey Cup. The Ticats also overcame a 1-4 start to the season before everything came together late in the season, especially on the defensive side of the ball, and they stayed hot through the playoffs. The Roughriders offence will be led by eight-year CFL veteran quarterback Darian Durant, who threw a career-high 31 touchdown passes as well as topping the 4,000 yard mark for the third time in his career. He also set a new personal benchmark with a 95.7 passer rating. This will be Durants third crack at leading the Roughriders to the Grey Cup, as he was behind centre during both the 2009 and 2010 losses to the Montreal Alouettes. He will have one of the CFLs most dynamic backs by his side in Kory Sheets, who finished the year with 1,598 yards - good enough for second overall. Sheets, in his second season in the league, contributed 12 touchdowns for the Roughriders. Speaking of veteran leadership, Henry Burris will be the pivot for the Tiger-Cats and he brings with him 15 years of CFL experience and the pedigree of leading the Stampeders to a championship in 2008. He also led the league this season with 4,925 passing yards as he continues to shine at the QB position. C.J. Gable will also be counted on to make an impact from the RB position for the Ticats, as the rookie finished fourth in rushing with 782 yards this season. One of the major storylines of this game will be Tiger-Cats head coach Kent Austin, who is a Roughriders legend; having led the team to championships as a quarterback in 1989 and as a head coach in 2007. Though he will be coaching against what will be a very partisan crowd against his team, a banner with his picture still hangs outside of Mosaic Stadium. Six players and one coach enter the game with the chance to win back-to-back titles. Ricky Foley, Tristan Black and Ejiro Kuale of the Roughriders or Evan McCullough, Brandon Isaac, Joel Reinders, and defensive coordinator Orlondo Steinauer of the Tiger-Cats will be finishing the season with the big prize for the second year in a row. The Roughriders have not captured the Grey Cup since Austin coached them there in 2007, while the Tiger-Cats havent been crowned champions since 1999. TSNs coverage of the 101st Grey Cup gets underway with SportsCentre hosts Jennifer Hedger and Darren Dutchyshen kicking things off from Mosaic Stadium at 1pm et/10 am pt. Sitting five points out of a playoff spot with only 10 games left on their schedule, the Canucks are in danger of missing the postseason in their first campaign under head coach John Tortorella. Although Vancouver didnt make it out of the first round in each of the last two springs, the club hasnt missed the playoffs since 2008. With 74 points, Vancouver is five behind Phoenix for the second wild card spot in the West. The Coyotes hold a game in hand over the Canucks, but with Phoenix idle on Sunday, Tortorellas club has a chance to cut the deficit to three points, Ryan Kesler and Daniel Sedin will return to action on Sunday and could help with Vancouvers postseason push. Sedin has missed the last nine games with an injured left hamstring, while Kesler has sat out the last four with a sprained right knee. Fellow forward Alexandre Burrows, however, expects to miss Sundays tilt after injuring his left hand in Vancouvers recent win over the Nashville Predators. Vancouver has won two of its last three games and is coming off Wednesdays 2-0 victory over visiting Nashville. Another win Sunday against the basement- dwelling Sabres would give the Canucks consecutive victories for the first time since beating Calgary and Edmonton from Jan. 18-21. The Canucks used a strong performance from rookie goaltender Eddie Lack to down the Predators. Lack made 30 saves for his fourth shutout of the season, while Alexander Edler and Nicklas Jensen scored in the third period for Vancouver. Jensen snapped a scoreless tie 6:06 into the third stanza. He scored from the top of the right circle after Henrik Sedin lost the puck in the slot. "Its being confident and not panicking and just trying to put it on net," Jensen said of his shot, which went just under the crossbar.dddddddddddd "The fact the coach gives me that opportunity is really good, but at the same time you have to show you want to be in those situations too." Vancouver is 17-11-6 as the host this season and is wrapping a brief two-game homestand on Sunday. Buffalo is last in the NHL with just 48 points this season, but the Sabres were able to snap a seven-game losing streak in their last trip to the ice, picking up a 3-1 win in Edmonton. Cory Conacher had two goals on deflections and picked up an assist to back Buffalo neophyte Matt Hackett in Thursdays win over the Oilers. Hackett, the fifth goaltender to start for Buffalo this season, made 35 saves and helped the Sabres kill off 5-of-6 Edmonton power plays. "I think we deserved that one," said Conacher. "We kept it pretty simple for the most part. We ran into a bit of penalty trouble, but our PK came up huge." Hackett, who was recently called up from Rochester of the American Hockey League, made his debut with the club that acquired from Minnesota last April. With Jhonas Enroth and Michal Neuvirth still out with lower-body injuries, 22- year-old rookie Nathan Lieuwen will make his second career start on Sunday. Hackett will serve as the backup. Buffalo is 8-22-3 on the road this season and is playing the third test of a five-game swing on Sunday. The Sabres will continue the trek Tuesday in Montreal before completing the trip Thursday against Nashville. The Sabres have won four of the last six meetings with Vancouver, but the Canucks recorded a 3-0 win in Buffalo on Oct. 17. Sundays game marks Buffalos first road game against the Canucks since posting a 5-3 win on March 3, 2012. Before that victory two years ago, the Sabres had been winless in their previous six trips to B.C., going 0-5-0 with a tie.
